Communist Traits in our Media

By

James Bredin

Some socialist writers reveal their reasons in their raves,

Sounds like they'd send you and me to a northern Gulag as slaves,

For not obeying their socialist dictums -- commie policies,

Lenin and Stalin would understand their communist fallacies.

Sanctimonious platitudes of equality every day,

Where workers live in Soviet paradise with little pay,

Everyone equally poor like robots, all the same, with no say,

And we're told we'll  love it in Pravda newspapers every day.

And this same Pravda newspaper will tell us all we need to know,

What to think, what not to say, when to come and where to go,

And we'll be efficient and effective as their statistics will show,

A proud proletariat without the freedom we now know.

If you think that you know what you are eating, think again. You did not see a label on those potatoes or on that corn about genetically altered food. You are being kept in the dark. Genetically altered foods have been on our shelves for about three years. There is no need to feel nervous about it. This is the way your government wants it -- no labels. And you do trust your government don't you?

Both the Canadian and U.S. governments have refused to require that genetically modified food be labeled.

Genetically altered food is simply food that has been genetically altered. That means that potatoes or corn or soybeans or whatever, may have an extra gene from a completely different species. This is not done for the consumer -- you. This is done for the farmer but mostly for the biotechnology industry and the large agro-chemical companies. It may eliminate the use of pesticides and increase the use of herbicides. The strange gene may give the soybeans or potatoes or corn the ability to poison its natural enemies -- bugs and flies that eat it in the field or it may be able to withstand herbicides that kill all the weeds in the field. The final produce -- corn, potatoes etc -- looks and tastes identical to normal produce. Therefore you cannot taste or see or smell the difference.

Therefore, according to government thinking and biotechnology thinking there is no need for a label identifying genetically altered foods. And if there is no need for a label, you have no need to feel nervous. Calm down.

We are not talking about one or two potatoes here. This is big business and it is already here. An estimated 60 per cent of the food Canadians and Americans eat already contains altered genes. The long-term impact on public health of genetically altered food is unknown. Who do you think are the guinea pigs?

The biotechnology industry has invested billions of dollars to make this genetic splicing possible. Their power should not be underestimated. They influenced the U.S. and Canadian and Japanese governments to the point that consumers were not allowed the privilege of knowing which food was genetically altered and which food was natural. They state that this will make food cheaper and thus contribute to the alleviation of world hunger. Would you believe, they have a social conscience?

Unlike the complacent Canadians and Americans, the Europeans are taking a completely different approach. They have shown a vigorous opposition to genetic engineering. In Britain and in Ireland environmentalists have destroyed fields of genetically altered crops. The resultant media attention has awakened the public to the issues.

Throughout Europe, threats of consumer boycotts have persuaded grocery chains to remove genetically altered foods from the shelves. Danish political parties want that country to be totally organic by 2010.

It all raises a few questions:
Do the honeybees get affected?
Does the resultant honey if this is possible -- contain the altered gene?
Does it impact on birds and other beneficial insects?
What type of Pandoras box have we opened here?

Are we fooling around with God's stuff?
Does anyone care?

"In Germany they came first for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time no one was left to speak up." - Martin Niemoeller (1862-1954)

The Canadian Liberals are past masters at arrogance, media manipulation and information overload. They shut down the Somalia inquiry, stonewalled the APEC inquiry, ignored the Krever inquiry and in late October 2000, called an election to avoid questions about the Auditor Generals Report -- the missing billion dollars at HRDC and the 21 ongoing police investigations. Because of the sudden election call, all questions were also shut down and both HRDC and CIDA continued to shovel out billions of taxpayers money to worthy recipients.

Chretien wrote the Charter (without property rights) and appointed the Supreme Court judges for life and they made Canadian laws. They changed 58 laws and gave us controversial kiddie porn, homosexual marriages and Indians fishing out of season while Canadians watched from the shore.

Chretien said prior to his election that he would cancel the GST. Of course he lied. He even lied about the lie when he denied that he had said it until someone produced the video.

In November 97 the final Krever report was released. Canadians had been getting sick HIV, AIDS and hepatitis because of the defective Canadian blood bank. In MAY 1998, the Liberals unanimously votes against full compensation for all hepatitis-c victims because of the defective blood bank. Chretien called that vote a confidence motion and his disciplined sycophant Liberals voted his way because he could refuse to sign their next nomination papers.

And still Canadians in the East voted these Liberals back into office.

The Immigration Boards own statistics revealed that about 71% of refugee claimants disappeared before their immigration hearing. The Liberals ignored these strange statistics. But those in the huge immigration industries loved it. As a result, the Ontario Social Services Ministry had to spend up to $160-million a year to support 17,000 immigrant welfare recipients whose sponsors had reneged on their promise to support them.

In March 2000 Chretien refused to testify at the APEC inquiry. The inquiry investigated the RCMP pepper-spraying of student protesters during an Asia-Pacific Conference held in 1997 at the University of British Columbia. Unfortunately Chretien received an invitation instead of a subpoena. He declined the invitation. It rendered the $4 million inquiry meaningless.

And still Canadians in the East voted the Liberals back into office.

Chretien backed off his renaming of Mount Logan to Mount Trudeau. The symbolism of this action crashed when western grassroots opposition raised its head.

Chretien invited Brian Tobin into his cabinet even though Brian Tobin was not even a member of the federal parliament. Brian Tobin now wants the federal government to finance a ship building industry in Newfoundland. He wants both Newfoundlands fishermen and ship builders on federal welfare.

Canada failed to qualify for the high level Moodys AAA rating. Canada had held a steady AAA rating from 1974 to 1994.
Only in Canada.

On November 27th 2000, Canadians reelected the Liberals with an even larger majority than before -- 41% of the 62% who bothered to vote. That is Canadians in the East did. Canadians in the West shut them out. But unfortunately in our political system at the present time, Canadians in West do not count.
